I was fortunate enough to be born and raised in the beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and currently still reside there today. After attending Camosun College, located in Victoria, I discovered my passion for social justice, gender studies, international relations and politics. Therefore, after receiving my Diploma in Arts and Science in 2013, I decided to complete my undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Victoria. I completed my degree in December of 2016.
During my time at UVic, I was an active member of UVic's Model United Nations Club, including being on the executive as Fundraising and Special Events Minister for 2015/2016 and on the secretariat for UVic's annual Model UN Conference, VICMUN, as the Director of Logistics in 2015. My largest role was serving as Secretary- General for both the club's executive and for VICMUN in 2016. To date, I have organized the largest and highest earning Model UN conference UVic has ever held. This club allowed me to attend conferences across North America, including the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City, NY in 2015 and 2016.
I love to experience new cultures through travelling and have had the opportunity to travel to a multitude of countries including Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
I currently work for the BC Public Service as a Client Service Worker in Community Services for the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. My responsibilities include providing a high level of customer service to clients who are often in emotional distress, referring to policies to create service requests, requesting documents from clients and service providers, exercising independent judgement and conflict resolution skills with clients, exercising tact while handling confidential and sensitive information, maintaining mail services for multiple services within the building, inputting information in to a case management system, printing and processing cheques for clients as required among other tasks.
Currently, I am looking to build a future career in either social work or education and plan to return to school for a BEd or MSW within the next couple of years.
