Michaela Metcalfe is an architect who is dedicated to mindfully shaping public space. Her professional and academic explorations have included multi-scalar, architectural and urban territories that strive to advance design in the public realm.
With over twelve years of experience, she has lead collaborative processes that have resulted in award-winning projects. Currently, as the Director of Design and Construction Excellence at the New York City Department of Design and Construction, she continues to advocate for equitable, sustainable, resilient and healthy design while simultaneously facilitating consensus between discrete stakeholders, the design aspirations of project architects, and the delight of the public.
Michaela graduated with a bachelor's degree in Design from the University of Florida School of Architecture and earned a Masters degree in Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University.
