Michael Ashley
I lead the technological area of the Center for Digital Archaeology (CoDA), overseeing its development activities, formulating vision and long-term strategies, and in establishing technical partnerships and alliances with on and off campus organizations. Michael is a digital conservation architect with more than 16 years of experience in cultural heritage informatics management and education. I received my Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, where I co-founded several initiatives, including the award winning Open Knowledge and the Public Interest (OKAPI), and the Media Vault Program, which seeks to develop digital preservation frameworks for research and scholarship. An archaeological photographer by training, I was the Media Team lead for the Çatalhöyük Research Project and have worked on heritage preservation projects worldwide.
