Michael Baskin

The recipient of a BA in architecture and design from the University of California, Santa Cruz, longtime Maui, Hawaii, resident Michael Baskin completed an MBA at Pepperdine University before beginning his career in the field of renovation, restoration, and design. Since 1987, Michael Baskin has led Baskin Design, a firm that designs unique homes and small inns in California, Hawaii, and elsewhere. Many of his homes have been purchased by celebrities and featured in national publications such as the New York Times.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Baskin has also guided award-winning commercial projects. He spearheaded the renovation of an abandoned pineapple cannery into a retail space, a project for which he received an award for interior and exterior renovation from the Paia Main Street Association. He also led the purchase, renovation, and design of the Paia Inn in Maui, which has received positive coverage from publications such as the Los Angeles Times and which he continues to own and operate.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Baskin gives back through his work with both larger charities and local community organizations. Among others, he has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Red Cross, and Planned Parenthood. He is also a longtime supporter of multiple schools in the area, including Haleakala Waldorf School, King Kekaulike High School, and Horizons Academy.
