Michael Bell

Michael Bell learned some of life’s most important lessons as a bagger in his father’s grocery store.

“My father gave me the greatest gift I have ever received," he says. "...my strong work ethic, my integrity, and my belief that with perseverance and hard work anything is possible.”

It was this guidance that set Michael on a path leading to an accomplished and uniquely varied career culminating with his role as CEO of a successful financial services company.

After earning a BS from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, one of the top five undergraduate business schools in the nation, Bell started his career at top auditing firm KPMG before transitioning into law. He graduated fifth in his law school class of 158 students and went on to work for what was then the largest law practice in the world, Latham & Watkins. This foundation set the stage for the executive career that followed, highlighted by the start-up and growth of five companies, including three financial services companies and two mutual fund companies.

After a decade of building and directing a sizable, highly profitable asset management company, Michael recently founded and serves as Managing Director of Hillstone Capital, a firm that provides strategic management consulting and advisory services to private equity and venture capital investors.
