Michael Brickman

Michael Brickman is currently promoting opportunity for all Americans by building innovative education and workforce development pathways at the U.S. Department of Education. He has led major reforms that benefit students and taxpayers, including:

⚫ Developing and implementing a government-wide human capital planning transformation that fundamentally refocuses hiring on skills and competencies, rather than educational attainment, in order to promote opportunity, improve diversity & inclusion, and reduce cost.
⚫ Rewriting regulations to promote innovations like competency-based education, employer-led career pathways, and meaningful accountability and competition to reduce student debt.
⚫ Developing innovation-focused pilots on student finance, academic alignment with workforce needs, and educational opportunity for incarcerated learners.
