Hi there.

I’m a journalist who reports from inside subcultures.

The trailer pictured to the left was my home for a month while working on a story.

I grew up in Farmington, New Mexico, an oil town bordered by the Navajo Nation to the west and the San Juan Mountains to the north.

After earning a scholarship to Colorado College, I left my working-class roots behind to write for publications including This Land Press and the Columbia Journalism Review, where my essays won the Mirror Award for Commentary in 2014.

I’ve collaborated with many filmmakers worldwide on documentaries, screenplays, and treatments.

Once, after checking my ID, a Greyhound employee got on the intercom and warned an entire bus station that she had just sold a ticket to the serial killer from Halloween.
