Michael Cheng (程修伟) is an applied drama practitioner and educator. A recipient of the National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship, he graduated with a Masters in Arts Pedagogy & Practice from Goldsmiths, University of London.
He has initiated, led or facilitated community theatre and socially-engaged arts projects, with themes of heritage, integration, inter-generation communication, active ageing, social support, and domestic abuse.
An experienced artist-facilitator and educator, he has worked with diverse populations such as young children, people with special needs, married couples, people with HIV, and people-at-risk. He also teaches applied drama methods as a freelance trainer and adjunct lecturer.
An accredited trainer (APTT), Michael teaches Playback Theatre internationally at all levels and is a faculty member of the Centre for Playback Theatre’s Leadership course. He previously served as Artistic Director of Tapestry Playback Theatre for 14 years and was Chair of the Centre's Board.
He is an authorized Guide and Accredited Trainer of The Listening Hour (www.listeninghour.org).
