Michael Cheng (程修伟) is an applied drama practitioner and educator. He is a recipient of the National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship in 2023, as he pursues a Masters in Arts Pedagogy and Practice.

He has initiated, led or facilitated community theatre and socially-engaged arts projects, with themes of heritage, integration, inter-generation communication, active ageing, social support, and domestic abuse.

An experienced facilitator and artist-educator, he has worked with diverse populations such as young children, people with special needs, married couples, people with HIV, and people-at-risk. As an adjunct lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic, Michael also teaches applied drama modules to teens and adults.

As an Accredited Playback Theatre Trainer (APTT), he has taught internationally at all levels of Playback, both in online and in-person settings. He is the immediate past-Chair of the Board of Directors at the Centre for Playback Theatre. He is Artistic Director of Tapestry Playback Theatre, and a Practitioner Member of the International Playback Theatre Network (IPTN). He is also a member of the Singapore Drama Educators Association (SDEA).
