Michael Cirigliano

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

Ever since I was young, I have had three very distinct passions: school, accounting, and sports. As a child, my two parents instilled the importance of academic success in me. My father, who never had the opportunity to attend college, has always made an effort to explain how imperative my college experience is. Because of this, I have grown to become passionate with my studies and am always willing to go the extra-mile to succeed. Being part of a school as prominent and renowned as the Isenberg School of Management has furthered this passion because I feel that I am part of something much larger than myself. The Isenberg community is truly remarkable and has helped develop my skills as a business student. As I continue my education at UMass Amherst, my passion as a student only seems to be growing.

Moreover, I have always been passionate about my future career in business. For as long as I can remember, I have been extremely interested in the financial world and have spent a great deal of time researching topics like Wall Street, the stock market, and the lives of business giants such as Warren Buffett and Donald Trump. With all of this in mind, my aspirations to be a CPA (certified public accountant) are growing each and every day. Studying accounting not only gives me more of a financial background, but also gives me a strong insight into how businesses work and operate. Accounting is the true language of business, which is why I am so passionate about the field. More than anything, I want a career in the industry that I love. In essence, this is why I have a passion for my future and will do anything it takes to get where I want to be.

One last strong passion I have is with sports. I love both playing and watching different games and feel that it serves as a distraction for the problems of everyday life. Even though my life will inevitably change overtime, I feel that my passion for sports and physical activity will never die down.

Currently, I am planning to graduate from UMass in May 2015 and be eligible for the CPA exam by May 2016. I love to travel and meet new people and am planning on going to Spain this summer. My favorite tv shows are Breaking Bad and the Office and my hobbys include golfing, bowling, and going to the gym. This is me in a nutsehll.
