Michael Conklin
I am an active scholar of 19th and 20th century American culture.
My teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of the literary, visual, and performing arts, with a focus on the relationship between aesthetics and politics. Consequently, my classes incorporate a strong interdisciplinary approach by drawing on texts from across the humanities to demonstrate the work of art’s relevance to contemporary society and examine its broader socio-cultural implications.
My work has been published by Oxford Unversity Press, Johns Hopkins University Press, University of Michigan Press, SAGE Publications, ABC-CLIO/Greenword Press, and Salem Press.
I am currently working on a book project that will anthologize the Jazz Age of the 1920s.
