My interest in the health related field started when I switch my major to Health Science Concentration Health Service Administration and started taking class at SJSU. As I was attending my first health science class, called Community health and services, I feel like I had picked the right major. This class was very involve with the community and actually helps improve the lives of the community members. The class sends college students like myself to elementary school with students who have low California state scores, and my job was to help students improve their test scores, encourage them and their parents to be involved with school more, and for parents to be involve with their children's education. I helped the children with their school and encourage them to do well in school.

While taking the class I also volunteer with Project Shine, a volunteer service that caters to the elderly, they stationed me at John 23rd Senior Center. My job at the senior center was to help senior with the citizenship exam. I helped two old women passed their exam and they got the American citizenship and passport right afterwards. I feel like I can do something to help the community, help people. I want a career that helps people, if I work, I want to work for the community and try to improve upon it citizens. I can use my knowledge from what I have learned and apply to help patients. My understanding of their culture helps me work with them. My knowledge of patient's cultural competency will help me understand patients who are minorities or who don't speak English as well.
