Michael F. Downes

Twenty-two years since my arrival, I have finally set off on the adventure of life with a Syracuse University Bachelor's Degree in one hand, a ukulele in the other, and a world of experiences filling the same bookbag I've used since the 1st grade. That was 1997...

Today, I am happily employed by Mobee, a Boston-based startup company that specializes in real time intelligence. My role there is in the DevOps group and is focused on keeping the company processes running smoothly, identifying ways to operate more efficiently, and analyzing & reporting data. Not to mention the most important task of my daily routine: learning.

Outside of the office, I've enjoyed my time on the stage through different dramatic productions and especially as a co-founder of Syracuse University's all-male acappella group, Otto Tunes. Music is an immeasurably significant part of my life, and I was fortunate enough to find a group of good people who felt similarly. Many of the most important life lessons I've learned come from my time spent as a performer.

We're often asked to describe ourselves in titles, five words or less, or some other summary that answers the pesky question, "whattyado?" And while I often do slap a variety of these titles onto my nametag, ranging from musician to Sales Operations Associate to world explorer, I prefer a lengthier explanation of "what I do"...

I help create those products and life experiences you just have to tell someone else about, the ones that leave you appreciative of life, or simply bring a smile to your face... the same ones I look for everyday.
