Marine Mike - Fehrenbacher

The story of Michael “Marine Mike” Fehrenbacher is a powerful reminder that discipline, loyalty, and drive can build success far beyond the battlefield.

Enlisting straight out of Providence Catholic High School, Fehrenbacher answered the call to serve in the United States Marine Corps. From the grueling training at MCRD San Diego to leadership roles at Camp Pendleton, he earned meritorious promotions, medals, and lifelong respect.

“The Marine Corps made me the man I am today.”

After his honorable discharge, Fehrenbacher transitioned from Marine to entrepreneur. Supported by the USMC Reserve and education grants, he completed college and dove into Chicago’s financial sector—earning licenses in securities, insurance, and mortgages.

Starting at Federal Financial Group and later excelling at Hartland Mortgage Center, he quickly rose as a top producer known for integrity and persistence. Driven to lead, he founded MidWest Funding Bancorp, Inc.—a one-stop mortgage firm that brokered, funded, serviced, and underwrote home loans across multiple states.

When the 2008 financial crisis hit, his Marine-forged resilience carried him through. He restructured, adapted, and ultimately negotiated the sale of MidWest Funding Bancorp to First Southern Capital Bank in 2012—a defining “win-loss” moment marking both success and closure.

Today, back home in Batavia IL, Marine Mike Fehrenbacher continues serving others as Director of the Veterans Service Support Group and President of M & M Financial & Insurance Agency, Inc. He helps veterans and seniors maximize VA and Medicare benefits, connecting them with healthcare, dental, and food programs at no cost.

“Once a Marine, always a Marine. My mission didn’t end when I took off the uniform — it just changed.”

From US Marine Corps hard charger to Batavia mortgage expert and veteran advocate, Michael Fehrenbacher’s story embodies resilience, innovation, and service.
