Mike Forness attended the University of Central Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Years later, he expanded his professional qualifications by obtaining a certified state building contractor license through the Florida State Construction Licensing Board in 2005. His education and hands-on experience have helped shape a career focused on organized project management and practical outdoor design.

In 2001, he founded Coastal Landscapes of Volusia, a company centered on residential landscaping projects in and around New Smyrna Beach. Since then, he has worked closely with homeowners looking for outdoor spaces that blend functionality with the natural character of coastal Florida. Many of his projects involve homes near rivers and oceanfront areas, where factors such as drainage, environmental exposure, and soil conditions require thoughtful planning.

Together, they are raising three daughters who are pursuing their own educational and career goals. One is continuing studies in nursing, another is working toward a career in accounting, and their youngest daughter remains active in academics and competitive soccer while attending high school.

In addition to his professional work, he has maintained strong ties to the local community through support for youth sports programs and school athletics.
