Michael Hopkins Denver
Published Author and Inventor and CEO in Denver, Colorado
Over time, Michael Hopkins from Denver has shaped a career that connects practical problem-solving with a focus on improving travelers' everyday experiences. He has worked as an author, inventor, operations manager, and CEO, each role adding to the skills that ultimately helped him develop the Aeropod concept. The idea began years earlier during his time in Europe, when he observed that airports offered quiet areas for travelers. These early impressions stayed with him and later became the foundation for Napstar, a company centered on providing private rest pods for airports across the United States.
Michael spent much of his early life in Europe, a period that influenced his outlook on transportation and travel. He attended Zweibrücken Air Force High School in Germany, completing his education there in 1985. Being surrounded by different cultures and travel systems gave him firsthand insight into how travelers move through airport spaces and how supportive environments can affect their comfort. When he returned to the United States, he continued his education at the University of Missouri in St. Louis and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990.
In 1989, Michael began his professional path with United Parcel Service. Working first in St. Louis and then later in Denver, Colorado, he served as a Hub Operations Supervisor, coordinating sales pickup routes and managing operational start times for multiple teams. His work reduced service failures by 40 percent, demonstrating his ability to improve processes and maintain workflow consistency. He then worked as an Outbound Primary Sort Supervisor, overseeing employees who sorted and routed large volumes of shipments. These responsibilities strengthened his skills in safety management, logistics, and team leadership. During this period, he earned several Safety and Service Awards in 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, and 1998.
In January 2005, Michael founded Napstar, LLC in Denver. He led research and business development, created marketing plans, and managed client accounts. During this time, he developed the Aeropod—an idea shaped by his own travel experiences. While he had seen comfortable rest spaces in Europe, he noticed that travelers in U.S. airports often had limited options for quiet, private rest. Seeking to address this gap, he created a concept designed to provide travelers with a more supportive experience. He later expressed the thinking behind this innovation in his book, The Denver Aeropod.
