Michael Katzeff

My name is Michael Katzeff and I am a marketing major in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My passion, and the reason I am pursuing a degree in marketing is because I want to work in the entertainment and concert industry. I discovered this desire freshman year after attending a concert at school. The concert was very fun and I had a great time, but it wasn’t until after the show that I had the realization of wanting to pursue a career in this industry. A few days after the show I came across a YouTube video the time-lapse of the stage being set up for the concert I had just attended. Over the course of the video the production team took an ordinary arena, assembled a stage, and transformed the venue to create an incredible experience for the concert-goers. It was then that I realized I wanted to be a part of creating an opportunity for others to have amazing experiences and create memories. Since then I became a promoter for MASS EDMC, and organization that markets and promotes for electronic music concerts, and eventually worked my way up to being the marketing manager for the team. I also interned at Gillette Stadium for the concert department and got to experience operations from a venue perspective. My hope is that these opportunities will give me the experience I need and push me in the direction of one day taking a larger role in the concert industry.
