Michael Leonard

I am an artist and educator. My artwork revolves around the idea of reexamination. The theroy central to what I make is that when we stop questioning what we feel we know, we inturn stop discovering. At times our discoveries are nominal, other time they can be profound, but without the willingness to reexamine, we find nothing at all.

Currently I am producing work that is intended to call into question how we see individuals and why we consider them same or different from us. Media, personal bias, cultrual reference, faith, friends, family, and many others influence what we "know." It is important to turn these preceptins "on their heads" once in a while.

Then we can "know" something new.
