Pastor Michael L. Loyd

Isaiah 50:4 The Lord hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

This is Pastor Loyd’s favorite text of scripture for it describes the fulcrum and focus of his ministry. God has given him a word in season.

Born in April of 1964 to apostolic parents, Dist. Eld. John and Evangelist Betty Loyd, Pastor Loyd was raised to serve. This he did from the time of his accountability until this present day. What ever his hands found to do, he did faithfully as he still does. He comes from a family of Bishops and pastors, leaders and churchmen. He has been active in preaching ministry for over 23 years. His first gift was that of music ministry and he is known around the country for his gift as a skilled and anointed minstrel. He is both minstrel and minister, producer and preacher, he writes the song and the sermon all to encourage God’s people.

He has attended the Fuller Theological Seminary, Trinity Theological Seminary, and Atlantic Seminary and College of the Bible in pursuit of a Master’s of Arts with a concentration in Biblical Studies. He is an avid and adamant expository preacher. The central focus of his message is the Word of God. His desire in ministry is to inform and inspire, educate and edify, and to be both intellectual and spiritual.

He currently resides in Long Beach, Ca. and attends the Mt. Pilgrim Church under the leadership of Bishop Richard D. Sanders. He serves as Pastor of Music and Pastoral Support, Chief Musician, and Staff Minister.

Here is what one satisfied pastor had to say:

I have had the pleasure of knowing Michael Loyd for nearly 18 years. He has played a significant role in my development as a preacher of the Gospel. As a student, I have sat under his instruction for “Key Ideas of The Old Testament,” “Key Ideas of The New Testament,” and “The Synoptic Gospels”. As a brother in Christ, he walked me through sermon outlining, as well as provided sermonic critiquing following my sermonic presentations. He has introduced me to various biblical scholars, noted bodies of literary work and “Systematic Theology”. He has challenged me to be theologically sound and doctrinally articulate. I have learned how to approach the biblical text from narratives, to prophetic synopsis to parables. I am grate
