Michael Madigan is a poet, storyteller, screenwriter and writing instructor who lives and works in Lathrup Village, Michigan. He is retired from Oakwood Healthcare, Inc., where he he managed the speakers bureau and creative writing programs, and has worked previously in public relations, development, writing and teaching positions for AIDS Partnership Michigan, John V. McCarthy & Associates, Inc., the Detroit Institute of Arts, two Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and Avis Rent A Car System.
Michael is an officer of Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, Detroit, where he serves as coordinator of Community Affairs and Public Relations and is active in the Master's Men men's ministry and Health Commission.
Michael was born and raised in Detroit, where he attended Sacred Heart Seminary. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of Stony Brook University (formerly State University of New York at Stony Brook). As a young adult he lived and worked in many places in the U.S. but eventually returned to Michigan to be closer to his large family. He has been with his partner Richard Reeves since 1991. Their home is in a neighborhood now on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
