I'm a Canadian technology entrepreneur based in San Francisco. In 2008, I founded BackType, a marketing intelligence company that helped brands and agencies understand the business impact of social media. BackType was funded by Y Combinator, True Ventures, Lowercase Capital and others before being acquired by Twitter in 2011.
Following the acquisition, the BackType team integrated our products and technologies into ads.twitter.com and Twitter's core infrastructure. Storm, the real-time data processing technology that we created and open sourced powers applications across the company from analytics and other advertiser products to search and discovery. Today it is used extensively at other companies like Alibaba, Apple, Samsung, Spotify, Uber, Yahoo and Yelp.
Today, I lead the advertiser experience engineering team that is responsible for analytics.twitter.com and ads.twitter.com. I spend my spare time advising and investing in startups.
