Michael Reaves is a 22 year-old freelance photographer based in Lexington, Kentucky. He is a senior at the University of Kentucky where he will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing in December of 2017. This past fall, Michael spent working Getty Images Sport in New York City photographing MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, U.S. Open tennis and UFC sporting events among others for the world’s leading photographic agency. He has held summer internships with the Dallas Morning News in the summer of 2015 and the Denver Post in the summer of 2016 photographing daily assignments ranging from breaking news, features, sports and long-term stories. In 2014-2015 he served as the photo editor at the university’s independent student newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel.

In 2015, Michael was recognized by Kentucky News Photographers Association as the College Photographer of the Year and was a semifinalist in the 2015 William Randolph Hearst Photojournalism Award program and has been recognized by the Kentucky Press Association for excellence in photography. Michael had the opportunity in October 2015 to attend the Eddie Adams Workshop in Jeffersonville, NY as a member of the 28th class and was awarded the Getty Images Sport award. In addition to the Denver Post, the Dallas Morning News, UK Athletics and Kentucky Kernel, his work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and ESPN.com among others.
