Wellpoint is the largest health insurer in America. Bigger than Blue Cross. It has 33.7 million customers.

Thanks to an article released by Reuters, we learned Wellpoint does its corporate best to terminate the policies of women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. It has a swell algorithm to that end.

Here’s a clip from the Reuters story by investigative reporter Murray Waas: WellPoint specifically targeted women with breast cancer with the intent to cancel their policies, federal investigators told Reuters. Similarly, Assurant Health, targeted HIV-positive policyholders.
