Michael Palassis

Michael Palassis is a highly respected leader in infrastructure and real estate finance, with over two decades of experience structuring and advising on capital-intensive public and private sector projects. His work integrates policy insight, financial discipline, and delivery expertise, helping shape the national infrastructure agenda.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Quantitative Finance and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, and a Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from Kaplan Professional. This academic foundation in law, finance, and quantitative analysis underpins his comprehensive approach to complex infrastructure strategies and capital structuring.

Michael began his career in investment banking and project finance, gaining cross-sector experience in both the Australian and US markets before founding Paxon Group in 2000. Under his leadership, Paxon has advised across housing, transport, health, education, and urban infrastructure sectors, supporting government agencies, institutional investors, developers, financiers, and community housing providers on transactions, partnerships, and procurement strategies.

He is credited with introducing Australia’s first Build-to-Rent model and creating a shared equity housing framework to improve housing affordability—both now adopted by state governments. His work aligns financial viability with public value, delivering investment-ready structures for long-term infrastructure outcomes. In 2024, Pan Finance recognised his contributions by naming him Financial Advisor of the Year – Asia Pacific.

Based in Perth with his wife and two children, Michael is an avid long-distance runner with a strong interest in modern history and mentoring early-career professionals. He actively contributes to national and international policy development through senior roles, including:
