A native of South Buffalo, New York, Michael Parentis, MD, practices orthopaedic surgery at WNY Knee and Orthopaedic Surgery. After graduating from Nichols School, a Buffalo-based private college preparatory school, Michael Parentis, MD, studied for his BS at Yale University, where he was an All-American lacrosse player, as well as All-Ivy and All-New England and two-time defenseman of the year for his team, and his MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

After receiving his MD, Michael Parentis, MD, completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of The Pennsylvania State University. More recently, he fulfilled a fellowship in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, where he served as assistant team physician for approximately 10 professional and collegiate sports teams. In 2001, he completed a 6 month foot and ankle fellowship at Greater Chesapeake Orthopaedic Associates, LLC, in Baltimore.

Michael Parentis, MD, maintains membership with multiple professional societies, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and functions as a team physician with three New York area college athletic programs.
