Michael Rechtin

Michael Rechtin is a Partner at the global law firm, Baker & McKenzie. He works within the commercial real estate group and focuses on data center, office, headquarters, industrial and retail leasing, build-to-suit transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures and development. Michael has established himself as an international data center law expert.

Michael understands the complex technical and operational issues in the data center sector and can help clients navigate the unique attributes, risks, concerns and technology involved in these transactions. He offers solutions for his clients in the acquisition, financing, planning, zoning, development and leasing of data centers nationally and internationally. Michael represents the largest broadcasting and cable company in the U.S. on their extensive national data center portfolio, which involves negotiating and documenting transactions with virtually all major data center developers and owners. He also represents data center providers, colocation operators and enterprise users in their data center transactions.

With more than 20 years of real estate law experience, Michael has represented life insurance companies both locally and nationally, Fortune 500 companies, pension funds and pension fund advisors, investment advisory groups, commercial developers, real estate entrepreneurs, REITs and professional services firms. He has represented transactions that have won the 2013 NAIOP Chicago "Suburban Office Transaction" of the year and the Crain’s Chicago Commercial Real Estate “Innovative Deal of the Year.”
