Michael Sheppeard

Michael J Sheppeard is a partner of the firm and Co-chair of our Litigation Department. Mr. Sheppeard specializes in commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and restructuring. He has extensive experience representing corporate clients with significant assets in complex litigations across the country. Mr. Sheppeard has served as lead counsel in a broad variety of cases involving internationally recognized brands, large private equity funds, and other large companies in commercial cases throughout litigation and appeal. As a result of his hands-on approach and strong relationship with our clients, Mr. Sheppeard has developed extensive experience defending, both collective and individual, Fair Labor Standards Act cases throughout the country.
In addition to his vast litigation experience, Mr. Sheppeard has also represented our clients in some of Ballon Stoll's most complex and challenging corporate matters, including brand acquisitions, asset and stock purchasing agreements (including § 363 bankruptcy sales), financing and secured transaction agreements (including factoring agreements), licensing of intellectual property and distribution arrangements for use stateside and overseas, and §355 spinoffs. Mr. Sheppeard also assists clients with brand management issues with a focus on rehabilitating companies with lax enforcement policies and creating enforcement and oversight mechanisms to monitor and react to actions by licensees and franchisees.
Mr. Sheppeard is admitted to practice law in the states of New York, New Jersey, as well as in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, the Northern District of Florida, and the Second, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Mr. Sheppeard earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the Eastern Kentucky University, magna cum laude, and his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
