Michael Suantak (also known as Pumsuanhang Suantak) is a digital security expert, civic-minded social innovator, and Founder and Lead Technologist at eimiAI. Known as one of the "Digital Tarzans" from the rugged jungles of Chin State—one of the least developed and most isolated regions in Northwest Myanmar near the borders of India and Bangladesh—Michael has spent his career building autonomous technology for disconnected communities.

As the Director of Alternative Solutions for Rural Communities (ASORCOM), his pioneering initiative was the creation of the Community Wireless Cooperative (CWC). He successfully built a localized mesh network connecting 20+ jungle villages in Chin State where no internet or mobile coverage was available. This autonomous network serves vital educational content (including Khan Academy and the RACHEL Pi project), local news, and intranet services hosted on local open-source servers maintained entirely by the community. He also serves as the CEO of SAVORY Social Enterprise, an initiative designed to fund and sustain this digital infrastructure through local economic empowerment.

Currently, through eimiAI, Michael is expanding his mission by integrating modern Artificial Intelligence into offline, off-grid systems. He focuses on ethical AI data sourcing and developing highly optimized Large Language Models (LLMs) to preserve low-resource indigenous languages and provide offline AI assistance to marginalized populations.

Michael's journey in civic tech began in 2002 as a founding member and organizational manager of the BIT team in New Delhi, India. Since then, he has evolved into a highly sought-after digital security trainer and auditor. Working as a consultant for international organizations like Internews and the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), he provides critical cybersecurity training, risk mitigation, and digital auditing for human rights defenders, change-agent organizations, and independent media houses operating in high-risk environments.

A DeBoer Fellow, Michael frequently joins international panel discussions to share insights on community media development, edge-technology landscapes, and digital rights survival under authoritarian regimes. He remains deeply invested in shaping digital and cybersecurity policy, ethical tech integration in education, and cyber law development and enforcement across the region.
