Michael Tomczyk

I am currently Innovator in Residence at Villanova University's Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center. I moved to Villanova after retiring from the University of Pennsylvania where I was previously Managing Director of the Mack Institute for Innovation Management. I use my Facebook page primarily for international friends and colleagues. This is a wonderful virtual meeting place for communicating across borders and timezones. I GREATLY value my international community of friends!! My new book - "Nanoinnovation: What Every Manager Needs to Know" is in production at Wiley and will be published in 2014. My next book will be an updated e-book edition of my book, THE HOME COMPUTER WARS. I am also working on a book featuring more than 100 celebrities I've encountered during my career, which will include lots of unpublished photos. I consider myself an innovation champion. I am dedicated to helping promote technological discoveries and advancements that can improve the world. My current interests include innovation ecosystems, environmental solutions, biotech innovation and translational medicine, nanotechnology, space travel, retrocomputing...to name a few. I'm especially interested in global climate change and environmental solutions. In May 2010 I completed a master's in environmental studies from the Univ. of Pennsylvania (I also hold an MBA from UCLA). I believe in lifelong learning and as an innovation champion, my personal motto is to "live in the future." My involvement in the design and launch of the first home computers (at Commodore in the 1980s) is an enormous source of pride and I applaud my friends especially in Europe who are keeping the Commodore spirit alive. My wife Nancy worked several years as a medical research technician and in June 2014 she will begin nursing school at the University of Pennsylvania with an ultimate goal to become a nurse practitioner. We lead very active lives and as a couple we are spontaneous, adventurous and romantic. We love outdoor activities. Our hobbies include scuba diving, adventure travel, fishing, caving, and fossil-hunting - some of the fossils we discovered are shown on this Facebook page along with photos of our adventures and experiences. The most important thing is to keep finding ways to add to our collective knowledge, to solve problems and make a difference. We keep striving to do significant things with our lives. We believe that anyone can "make a difference" and improve the world!
