Michèle Blouin

Pickering, Ontario

I am a geological engineering graduate seeking experience in the mining industry. During my studies, I learned to appreciate the technical and commercial details of this industry and hope to continue learning either through work or graduate education.

My interest in mining began at a young age, though I was not aware of it at the time. I loved collecting rocks and other pretty gems for the sake of it and always appreciated stones, often set in jewellery (which is ironic because I tend to not wear any). I now run a a small business creating handmade jewellery called Foxstone Originals on Etsy (also ironic).

I am also a traditional artist and soft pastellist. The subject of my art leans towards portraiture and contrary to the common belief of engineers being boring, I love to encorporate a bit of magic and fantasy in all of my works.

My other passion is writing; fiction, to counterbalance the engineer in me. Though I have not written in a long time, I have not given up on my love of writing. Though not etched on paper, the stories continue their journey in my mind. Guess I will simply have a lot of catching up to do when the muses come out of hiding...

In a way, I seek to pursue what I love by encorporating them in every aspect of my life. Life is too short to do it any other way!
