MICHELLE LEDWABA
Student and Teacher in Johannesburg, South Africa
I am a student , living in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am a fan of education, reading, and running. My belief in teaching and learning is that all learners are unique and need a teacher who will accommodate them in an equitable and safe environment. I practice this by using different teaching strategies in the classroom that align with the learning styles learners in my class have. Also, using technological tools to help me with teaching methodologies. Thus, ensuring an equitable education for all. Teaching is a process of learning from one another, teachers, learners, and parents. Hence my students must always feel that their ideas and opinions matter, enabling them to feel free to express themselves in classrooms. It may be about schoolwork or anything happening in their lives. Therefore, I believe teachers, learners, and parents must work together collaboratively for effective teaching and learning to take place.
I believe firmly in setting an example for my learners, hence I enjoy the content and promote positive attitudes toward concepts. As learners are also likely to inherit this attitude. So, I always stimulate their curiosity and make the lessons fun and relatable to their real-life experiences. As the teacher, making the lessons relevant to the lives of learners is crucial as this helps them understand concepts. Like giving them authentic activities.
My goal as a teacher, is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge needed for them to achieve their goals. Then participate in the whole world. I want to be part of the success of the learners by motivating them and supporting them throughout.
