Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi

From Los Angeles, I am currently in Abu Dhabi. I decided to take a little different path, so far, so good...but not exactly easy.

Photo of my beautiful Mom, Carole. Without a doubt, the kindest woman I have ever met.

So in addition to business, I am also an artist and writer, but presently have little time for either. In the past year I was in Iran and I keep thinking I should write more about this, as it was an amazing place.

One would think being an American roaming around Iran would be difficult. Actually it was the opposite, people were so friendly and exited that an American was there visiting. Because I would speak to my friend who is Iranian in English, people would come up to us on the street and ask where I was from. Most thought I was Canadian, as not many expected an American to be there.

We wandered all over the place, walking and taking the bus, or sometimes taxis. Tehran is very safe and we would be out walking around the streets at night just looking at the city.

There were some really funny stories from that trip. More later.

So here is a funny Iran story...I was there as a guest of the government for their film festival (I own/run an entertainmnet investment fund) and ended up doing a lot of interviews.

I was asked by a TV channel to say something, and the reporter spoke to my friend to translate the questions before we were live on air. Basically he wanted to know about "the holly trees." I had no idea what he was talking about and my friend explained he wanted to know about the "holly trees" in Hollywood...OK...

I explained that the name is from an old real estate venture, nothing to do with holly trees. The reporter looked a bit suspicious, he didn't believe me. So when we then went live a few minutes later, the usual questions about "what did I think about the festival" etc., were asked. And finally he asked again about the holly trees. Not sure if he ended up translating his story or the real one on air.

Our first film is Shah, starring Sir Ben Kingsley as Mohammed Reza Shah. Info on the project is on my Blogsite.
