“She’s got style, she’s got grace, she’s a lady.” Michelle Burnham is the living example of this Tom Jones number. Always the positive, well put together spark of life in the room, Burnham is a Public Relations student who aims high.
“My goal is work with the government, bank or a post secondary institution,” stated Burnham when asked where she wanted to take her P.R. career. At 19 she is already able to scratch one of these off her list, with the success of landing a placement with the Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology Athletics Department in 2014.
The Scarborough native likes “pasta, kittens and country.” Her cat Bentley is definitely number one in her books though. Burnham enjoys getting together with friends to try new restaurants, taking in the sites, sounds and flavours of places she’s never been to before.
All smiles and positive words, it’s not surprising that this bubbly young woman has a great outlook on life. “What I always tell myself is ‘you are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.’ Even though I am so young there are so many expectations to be 'perfect' and do everything right to please your parents. And I just believe that I will do what makes me happy as an individual,” said Burnham.
With the world at her fingertips, Burnham would love the opportunity to travel to Honolulu, Hawaii. “I have never been out of Canada before and I love their culture down there and the gorgeous view! And also because of 50 first dates,” explained the soon to be Public Relations grad.
The determined student plans to complete an Advanced Public Relations Diploma in August 2014 and walk across that stage in October of the same year. After graduating Burnham will continue on her path to success and happiness. Taking each day at a time and keeping that smile firmly in place.
