Michelle Ste. Croix

Newcastle, Ontario

Well hello there! I'm Michelle Ste. Croix.

I'm twenty-one years old and a student at Durham College currently studying Digital Video Production.

One skill I tend to lack is writing things like this, having to write about myself and seem confident about it. Usually people who have met me say I’m quite friendly and nice, and I’d hope if you have met me or do meet me, you’d think the same. I am the type of person who would like to be thought of as equal and accepted for who I am. I am not better than anyone nor do I want to be. I just want to be good at what I do and what I like to do and be a good person (if this was a text message, I would insert a smiley face emoji here because I use them a lot).

When I was about eleven years old, I stumbled upon Windows Movie Maker, and that discovery sparked an interest that brought me where I am today. I started making what some people would call "mash-ups" and learned new tips and tricks from watching other videos on YouTube as well as changing to different software programs that don’t freeze all the time, not pointing any fingers, Windows Movie Maker.

Through experimentation, research, and a lot of practice, I continued, and still continue, to make mash-up videos in my spare time; using various video clips from tv shows, movies, concerts, etcetera and matching them with music. It’s an amazing feeling to watch a completed video that I managed to produce and seeing the clips match so well with the beat of the music!

I aspire to either be a videographer or photographer or both at the same time. I would like to be one of those people who do photo shoots for celebrities or make music videos or mash-ups to promote them.
