Michelle Maldonado

Lake Placid, FL

Hello, I’m Michelle Maldonado and I am a graduate student, writer, video editor, director and producer.

I completed my Bachelor of Art at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL. I majored in Broadcast, Print and Online Media Communication. While at Florida Southern, I also minored in Psychology. I am currently working on my master’s degree in New Media Journalism at Full Sail University.

I have always loved television, especially what goes on behind the scenes. During my time at Florida Southern, I focused on the broadcast side of journalism. I found out that my greatest strengths were as a producer, director and video editor.

I had the opportunity to serve as the executive producer of the on-campus wellness show, Go Healthy FSC.

During my undergraduate senior internship at NFocus Visual Communication, I assisted with the editing of the Publix documentary “Mr. George”.

I have also tried my hand at radio. I was the media director at Radio Voice of Truth.

Right now I am the media manager at New Covenant United Methodist Church.

I have lived in several different states and in Puerto Rico. I currently live in the small agricultural town of Lake Placid, Florida.

Lake Placid is very isolated. The majority of our residents are ages 60 and up.

The interests and necessities of young people are often ignored and overlooked.

With my website, I want to connect young adults with the outside world. I want to cover topics that affect our age group that are not being addressed by the local media.

For now, I will remain in Lake Placid to continue working on this project.

My future goal is to move to Washington DC to further my education with a doctoral degree. I hope to work in the Department of Defense’s media department. As a member of a military family, I want to serve my country in a unique way.
