Hilliard, Ohio
I am an elementary teacher in Hilliard, Ohio and I am passionate about teaching and learning. I am currently serving as an Intervention Specialist where I work with children in kindergarten through third grade who need a modifed curriculum and/or additional support in the areas of literacy and math.
I completed my Master’s Degree in Literacy from Otterbein College in 2005 and the licensure program in Educational Administration at The Ohio State University in 2009. I have previously served as a kindergarten teacher, ELL tutor, first grade teacher and a K/1 multiage teacher at the elementary level over the past twelve years.
My professional goal is to obtain a position as an elementary principal. In today's world, students need to be prepared to communicate, collaborate, create and think critically. This learning starts with our youngest learners and needs to continue to grow and develop throughout their education. There are many changes happening in education right now, but the most important focus should always be on what is best for the needs of our students.
“If you want to feel secure, do what you already know how to do. If you want to be a true professional go to the cutting edge of your competency, which means a temporary loss of security. So, whenever you don’t quite know what you are doing, know you’re growing.”
