Michelle Cameron
Assistant Professor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I am a biological anthropologist and I investigate skeletal biology, bioarchaeology, and human evolution. I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Anthropology. I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge. I use digital techniques including 3D modelling and spatial analyses to ask questions about how humans interacted with their external environments in the past. I infer past physical activity patterns of groups living in diverse social and environmental contexts. I also study how dietary variation may impact bone maintenance using microscopic and chemical analyses of bone tissue.
I share my enthusiasm for anthropology through a weekly video series titled 'Humans in 5.' I have also enjoyed sharing my passion for anthropology as an undergraduate research supervisor, a laboratory supervisor, and as an Education and Outreach Volunteer at University of Cambridge Museums. In my downtime, I love exploring outdoors, discovering new music, and testing original recipes.
