Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Michelle has been a musician for all of her life. Throughout her childhood, she learned to play a variety of different instruments. She began playing the French horn at the age of 11, and eventually went on to participate in both the marching and concert bands in high school. At the ripe age of 17, Michelle and her high school concert band were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City where Michelle was a featured soloist in her band's musical pieces. Acting as a section leader in the band for two years taught her the focus and discipline she needed for her journey through life.
The journey began in Lubbock, Texas. While attending school at Texas Tech University, Michelle decided to pursue a career in the music industry and transferred to Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. In 2011 she received her Associate of Science degree in Recording Engineering. The following year she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Business. During her studies, she was nominated for the Advanced Achievement Award and was awarded the Course Director's Award in Professional Writing, on top of finishing her classes with a 3.9 GPA.
Two weeks following her graduation, Michelle was offered an internship in music publishing in Los Angeles, California. She had achieved one of her lifelong dreams of moving to the City of Angels. She first interned at Warner/Chappell Music in Los Angeles in both the Sync Licensing and Production Music departments. After that, she was introduced to the world of artist management as an intern at Laffitte Management Group, where she worked on projects for Pharrell, Sum41, and Better Than Ezra.
Music publishing then provided her more opportunities to sink her teeth into. Michelle returned to Warner/Chappell Music in 2013 as a Royalties Specialist. After gaining much royalty knowledge there, she was offered the position of Royalty Analyst at Universal Music Publishing Group in Santa Monica, where she has remained until 2016.
In the future, she hopes to continue her path to excellence and make a difference in the world.
