Michelle Manafy
Michelle’s focus is on emerging trends in digital content and community and how they shape successful business practices.
Michelle Manafy is currently the editorial director of Digital Content Next (formerly the Online Publishers Association), which represents 65 media outlets. She is responsible for all of DCN's content initiatives, including those on the organization's site and those appearing at a wide range of industry outlets. She also directs the content and direction of the annual DCN: Next Summit. Michelle writes a regular column on content marketing at Inc.com called The Content Strategist.
Prior to joining the DCN, Michelle served as senior editor of the Media Industry Newsletter (min) where she focused on digital strategies for the magazine media industry, judged industry awards, and organized and participated in industry events.
Before working with min, she served as editor-in-chief of UK-based digital publisher FreePint limited, where she covered the enterprise information industry. For many years, Michelle served as the editorial director of Information Today, Inc's Enterprise Group. In this role, she was editor-in-chief of EContent magazine, which focused on emerging content creation, management, and delivery strategies and tools. She also edited the Intranets newsletter and served as the chair of Information Today’s Enterprise Search Summits and the Buying & Selling eContent Conference.
An award-winning editor and columnist, Michelle has written on a variety of technology topics including digital publishing, content marketing, social media, content development and distribution, streaming media, and audio, video, and storage technologies. She speaks at a wide range of events and serves as a judge for media, content and technology competitions. She is the co-editor of and a contributor to the book Dancing With Digital Natives: Staying in Step With the Generation That's Transforming the Way Business is Done (May 2011, CyberAge Books). She also edited David Meerman Scott's first book, Cashing in With Content. Michelle has worked in digital, book and magazine publishing for more than 20 years in areas ranging from pop culture to academic nonfiction and holds a BA in journalism from San Francisco State University.
