THE WRITER

I knew I wanted to be a writer when I was in first grade. Each week we were given a set of ten spelling words. All we had to do was use each word in a single sentence. I went beyond that. I would combine all the words into a story, sometimes using three or four pieces of paper, and I would even draw pictures. I never understood why the teacher gave me funny looks once I finally passed in my spelling words.

Then there was the first novel I wrote when I was about ten. I call it a “novel” because when I was finished it was about 200 pages long. I remember it was a coming–of-age story and I really didn’t know what I was talking about. Here I was in the sixth grade and I was writing about kids in high school, going to the prom and hanging out in study hall (which I really thought was a “hall”). How naïve was I?

Fast forward to adulthood. Here I am with a blog, some half-finished novels, a memoir, a screenplay, a nonfiction how-to book, poetry and various articles and short stories with no platform to showcase myself. So with this web site I begin my journey.

THE PERSON

I’m a married mother of one and currently live in central Massachusetts. In between my love for writing, I’ve spent the past twenty plus years working in the insurance industry. Although my insurance positions have paid the bills, my true intention has always been to write.

Other than writing, my other passions include music (classical, just about anything from the 80’s, jazz and Christmas—yes, I listen to Christmas music year round. What’s wrong with that???:)), reading (my favorite authors include Danielle Steele, Dan Brown and Mitch Albom), travel, cooking (one of my works in progress is a cookbook) and movies (mainly dramas or decent comedies).

MY FUTURE WRITING GOALS/DREAMS

I’d love to freelance, even if it were to just open some writing doors for me. Freelancing to me would be a great opportunity. I have a few writing contests I plan on entering this year and I’d like to finish editing my memoir and start shopping it around. My ultimate goal is to become a published author.

Thanks for stopping by my site . Take a look around and have a read. Feel free to give me your feedback. I’d love to hear what you have to say.
