I grew up in Walkden, went to school at St Raphael’s in Little Hulton then De La Salle in Salford. At Bolton Art College I studied Graphic Design and ended up making animated films. Later I did a Journalism degree at UCLAN in Preston.

I’ve had lots of jobs: Audio Visual Technician, Potato Man, Weed Sprayer, Warehouse Manager, Transport Manager, Cartoonist, Handyman, Broadcast Journalist, Presenter, Reporter, Councillor, Bus Driver, HGV Driver.

In 2001 I won a job at BBC Radio Lancashire, co-presenting a show called The Knowledge. Every week we offered to answer questions, every week listeners rang in with the answers. I went out to investigate anything interesting, like guns up trees and buried witches.

I worked as a BJ on the BBC Bus in Lancashire and learned how to drive it. After it was Radio Manchester then Radio York. The buses gave us some great stories which I don’t think we’d have picked up any other way.
