Mickey Mayhew
Autistic Author
Mickey Mayhew has a PhD in sociology; two MAs, in creative writing, and gender, sexuality, politics and culture, respectively; and an MSc and BSc in sociology. Despite being autistic, he is also an accomplished author who has written numerous fiction and non-fiction titles, including his autobiography Mickeypedia. His non-fiction books include Rasputin and his Russian Queen – The True Story of Grigory and Alexandraand Imprisoning Mary Queen of Scots – The Men Who Kept the Stuart Queen.
Mr Mayhew has also written several works of fiction, including The Barrow Boys of Barking Series,as well as several titles on the topic of Jack the Ripper, including Jack the Ripper: The Terrible Legacy; Jack the Ripper: The Suspects; and The Little Book of Jack the Ripper.
In addition to his work as an author, Mickey Mayhew has also served as an alumni proof reader for the London School of Economics; a research assistant for London South Bank University; a gym assistant; and a critic for Boyz magazine. Mr Mayhew has also volunteered for Oxfam, working at the charity’s Central London branch.
His focus remaining on writing both fiction and non-fiction, Mickey Mayhew has travelled the world researching subject material for his books, including the French poet Arthur Rimbaud and Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, who inspired Mr Mayhew to become involved in animal welfare himself, often attending outreach events.
Mickey Mayhew’s other interests include Tudor England, true crime stories and Russian royal history, with the latter topic leading him to visit St Petersburg in 2018.
