Being a musician in Brooklyn had its benefits. My love for the stage started way before this music thing. Put in ballet and tap at three was my Mother's idea, didn't have much say, but loved the stage. That progressed into modern jazz, at the age of twelve I was already on point in ballet. Mom had the idea, to live vicariously through me, so I had the choice of piano or guitar lessons, so I took both. If that wasn't enough, Kung Fu and Judo became my Monday and Thursday. Dancing was serious however, it paid off when I became a New York City Rockette. I remember when Mom took me to Radio City Music Hall, I loved it so. You know that saying, "be careful what you wish for?"

At sixteen I started my first band, had the typical parts in the High School drama clubs, field and track, swim team but music was working for me. Out the window went my studies to become a Veterinarian along with Texas A&M. I fell in love with the SSL console, the Otari 24 track and outboard gear at Electric Lady Studios. This is what I want to be around 27/7. Along the way, we opened for some very great bands and even toured a bit with KISS. The summer of 1980, I met with Alice Cooper at a show in NYC, where I met my future husband Erik, the Bass Player, Writer, Co-Producer and Lieutenant in the "Special Forces" tour. Sheryl Cooper is a pro dancer, we hit it off marvelously.

After the Special Forces Tour, I was asked as hostess for the NBC late Saturday night show Rock-n-Roll Tonight. This is how I got involved in the recording studio business, and yes it's whacky. Working in Los Angeles, I've had the pleasure of managing well known recording, mastering studios and facilities, dealing with major and indie A&R Departments, Producers, Engineers, Bands, Managers, Publishing and PR. In 1997, Sonia Dada, an eclectic Chicago based band and Erik being one of the founding members, I received a call from the owner of Chicago Trax, a huge facility, where I quickly took the position of Studio Manager. Chi-Trax was home to R. Kelly, Smashing Pumpkins, Ministry and lots of jingle work, I also freelanced for CRC.

My IMDb Pro page is where Jay Dovner watches over my adventures, on and off the stage, and yes, I do thrive on
