Diet seems to be the Gorilla in the room no one wants to talk about. But it is the most effective way to start your slimming down journey. The first step is to start limiting processed, fattening foods. I've heard the analogy that the best way to eat a healthy diet is to stick to the sides of the grocery store. The canter isles tend to contained all the "bad" stuff, such as cookies, donuts, soda, prepackaged foods and the like. Basically things loaded with salt, sugar, "bad" fats and "bad" carbs. Also, people need to make the distinction that not all fat is bad. Saturated and Trans-saturated fats are no good for the body. Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats however, are actually good for you and used as fuel for the body. Avocados, certain fatty fish, whole eggs and virgin olive oil are excellent sources of these. It pays to read labels as well. If you can pronounce it, don't eat it!!
These are just a few examples of minor tweaks to ones lifestyle that can reduce body fat and general unhealthiness. Many in the media will claim fasts, body cleanses, diet drinks or surgery are the best ways to make the "new you". but with a little bit of research and a whole lot of know-how, you can become a healthier person with out all the flash, fire and hype.
