Gian Carlo Abellana
Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
I'm Gian Carlo Z. Abellana, Filipino who was born and raised in the Philippines and now based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada living life to the fullest and exploring what life has to offer.
I am a fierce Capricorn, born on the 14th of January 1989 in the mighty city of Butuan, Philippines where I lived most of my life until I graduated university taking up my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Mostly in my student years I loved to join different extra-curricular activities and from nursery to elementary I was an outstanding student. But when I reached high school it was too hard for me to be in the honor spot because I am in a Science High Class/Section. College years were also difficult taking up nursing with all the hectic schedules and exams every now and then. I like public speaking ever since where I bagged different awards and even competed in National Competitions. I am also a youth leader and was part of the Pioneer Member of the Volunteer Youth Leaders for Health Philippines. I represented my country too, in China for an Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Youth Summit in 2010.
After I graduated my Nursing Degree I moved to Cebu City where my dad's family live. I had my Licensure Review there passed the Licensure Exam. I also took units of Business Management through distance learning program. In Cebu I also worked part time as an English Communication Specialist in an ESL Company. I also ventured into the Business Process Outsourcing Industry in 2011, employed with the country’s biggest BPO company- Convergys as a Customer Account Executive with Comcast (an American based cable, phone and internet provider). I lived in Cebu from 2011 to 2012. I had the best of independence as I lived there on my own. I get to enjoy travelling to different places, met new friends and mostly hanging out at the beach on my days off.
June 2012, after long years of being away from my mom who worked very hard to give us a very comfortable life, we then finally moved to Canada and landed as Immigrant. At this moment since it will still take a long time before I can practice my profession as a Registered Nurse, I just worked at a hotel in Lethbridge as Guest Service Representative. After working for almost two years as a Guest Service Representative at a chain hotel in my city, I also tried to venture into being a school photographer for few months which gave me the opportunity to travel all around Alberta and some parts of British Columbia.
