Miguel Frontera

With more than two decades of experience in psychiatry, Dr. Miguel Frontera has garnered numerous significant achievements. Throughout his career, he has served as a visiting lecturer at many institutions and organizations, including the University of Maryland; the Flagship Health Departments of Mental Health, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics; and the Maryland State Department of Education in the Office of School Psychology. An expert on neuropsychiatric disorders, Dr. Miguel Frontera has spoken on the neuroanatomy of anxiety disorders; depressive conditions in children and adolescents; and frontal lobe function in psychiatric disorders. Dr. Miguel Frontera has also published an article in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, titled Unexpected Deaths in Depressed Medical Inpatients Treated with Fluoxetine. Dr. Miguel Frontera held the title of Communications Director at CAMELOT:ASDAC (Consortium for the Advancement of Medical and Evidence-based Learning and Organized Treatment: Autism Spectrum Disorders Adult Chapter) through January 2011. Previously, he served as Medical Director at Clinical Associates & Flagship Health, P.A., where he treated patients presenting with symptoms of autism, Tourette syndrome, and treatment-resistant attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, depressive, and bipolar disorders. Dr. Miguel Frontera earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania before receiving his medical degree from the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine. From there, Dr. Miguel Frontera relocated to Baltimore to intern in medicine and neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his formal training while serving as a Staff Physician in the Baltimore County Department of Health’s Substance Abuse Services Department. Between 1988 and 1992, Dr. Miguel Frontera operated as a resident in psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a fellow in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Sheppard Pratt Hospitals. At this time, Miguel Frontera is retired from all research and medical/clinical activities.
