He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph's College in 2005, followed by a Master’s in Human Resources Management from Seton Hall University in 2008. These degrees were key to his progression into higher leadership roles, where he combined his knowledge with practical experience. Miguel’s career began in Brooklyn, where he saw firsthand the challenges of rising crime and community safety concerns. Motivated to make a positive difference, he joined the NYPD in 1991. Over the years, his leadership abilities were recognized, leading to key promotions such as Lieutenant in 2005 and Captain in 2010. As Captain, he oversaw operations that led to a notable reduction in crime in high-crime areas, particularly the 73rd Precinct, where his leadership led to a sharp decrease in shootings and overall crime.

In 2022, Chief Miguel Iglesias NYPD was appointed Chief of Internal Affairs, a position that required him to maintain the department’s credibility and ethical standards. His focus on transparency and accountability helped restore public confidence in the NYPD.
