Miguel Pinto Serrano
Granada, Spain.
Born in Lisbon to a half Portuguese and half Spanish family, when I was one and a half years old I was enrolled at the Portuguese-British Kindergarten of Lisbon, where I remained there until I was 3 years old when I started my studies at the Spanish Institute of Lisbon, where I stayed until I concluded my studies. I was extremely lucky to have been introduced to these languages at such a young age and at a time when in Portugal most of the cartoons were subtitled and not translated, and considering that I could not read or write I started listening and really paying attention.
My background combined with a lifelong passion for reading and cinema, gave me an extensive knowledge of the English language, having been in contact with it practically my entire life, and having learned so much about translation during my 7 years of experience in this field, the translation, and adaptation of Spanish or Portuguese to English, or any combination of these languages, come natural to me, having an extensive knowledge of vocabulary, including slang, a profound personal interest in idiomatic expressions and accents (and culture). I have the tools and the know-how to be a great translator, especially for television series, movies, documentaries, theater plays (contexts with dialogue and where there´s a basic need to know exactly how one would express himself, or an idea in a different situation or context, depending of the language and/or culture).
I'm extremely organized, hardworking and perfectionist, currently I'm living in Granada, Spain, I like to spend my time either traveling, visiting family and friends in the beautiful city of Lisbon, hiking, going to concerts and spending time with friends sharing a bottle of good wine.
