The Goldsmith Prizes "bring together the world of scholarship and the world of practice...enhancing the work of both," said Kennedy School Dean Albert Carnesale. The awards are given under the auspices of the Kennedy School's Joan Shorentein Barone Center. The prizes for investigative reporting were awarded to Douglas Frantz and Murray Waas of The Los Angeles Times a their series on U.S. government policy toward Iraq. They shared the Prize with reporters for The Seattle Times, who wrote about alleged sexual assualts a former United State Senator.
The prizes awarded to Murray Waas and Douglas Frantz were presented by Tom Wicker. Murray Waas spoke on behalf of the L.A.
