He lives in Bristol and is the author of three published novels and five history books.

Where’s My Money? (Tangent Books, reprinted 2016) was selected by BBC TV in October 2016 as one of their ‘Books that Made Britain’.

Mike is the initiator of the legendary ShedFest, probably the world’s smallest literary festival in a shed! He's also a micro-publisher.

Mike recently finished the Creative Writing MA at Bath Spa University where he was fortunate to have Fay Weldon as his manuscript tutor. He received a distinction for his Down in Demerara manuscript. Fay wrote: ‘This is a fast-moving, wonderfully funny (I laughed aloud a lot), vigorous and intelligent tale of an innocent abroad in Guyana.’

Set in 1999, Down in Demerara is a tale of self-realisation through love, friendship and fear.

Put simply, Adrian Mole meets Heart of Darkness.

'Mike Manson's Down in Demerara is storytelling at its best' The Jamaica Gleaner 21 April 2019.

Mike's most recent book is Manson's Bristol Miscellany (2021). ‘Bristol Book of the Year’ said Bristol Festival of Ideas.
